At what point does an icon become idolatry?  When does a symbol become sarcasm?  "Workshop" by Heather McCarty asks the artist what is the worth of his work while John Bedard reveals the lies we tell ourselves to preserve an image.

Yourself—I do!”
And I thought
“How silly
Then
For all 20 of
us to huddle
on these wooden
Planks
At your feet and
Wait for  
Crumbs
To fall
As though we
Are only worth
Donated
cheese.”
